Brag Tags

Brag tags are a powerful tool that I use in the classroom to motivate students to reach academic, character and behavior goals. The kids LOVE them and they are so simple!

On the first day of school, I gave each student their first brag tag.

This is the only brag tag that I will be GIVING to them. From now on, all tags must be EARNED! There are several different ways that tags can be earned.

  • A tag is earned for every 20 i-Ready lessons that a student passes. They are tracking their progress every week.
  • A tag is earned for completing the entire math fact station. They have time during centers to work on the math fact station, but they are working at their own pace.
  • Students will be earning brag tags for their reading hours.
  • One student each month will be chosen to earn the character trait brag tag for the month. This student will be chosen based on their work on the character calendar in their binder. I blogged about this last week, so scroll down for more info!
Students may also earn tags for individual goals. I always want to push my students to grow. These types of tags may differ from one student to another because their goals and needs differ.

Tags are awarded every Friday morning. Students wear the necklaces on Friday- with pride! At the end of the year, they should have a pretty great collection to bring home!

We have already had our first i-Ready brag tag recipient! Congrats to Troy who has already passed 20 i-Ready lessons!

Who will be earning a tag this week?!
